Tapping & Harvesting Process

Harvesters choose mature frankincense trees. They make small cuts in the tree’s bark. The tree releases a milky sap called resin from these cuts. The resin hardens on the tree over about 10 days. Harvesters then collect the hardened resin from the tree. They dry the resin to remove any moisture. This process is repeated several times during the harvesting season.

Cleaning Process

After drying, the resin may have bark and dirt on it. Workers carefully remove these impurities by hand. They clean the resin to make it pure. This process makes the resin clean and organized by grade, ready for sale.
